World Summit on Information Society is one of the major UN summit going to be held in December 2003 in Geneva. The summit is critical because its outcome will determine the policies related to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the next few years.
The Indian Youth Caucus is organizing a National Youth Campaign, which compliments the WSIS process. The National Youth Campaign in India is going to be organized by WSIS YOUTH INDIA and TakingITGlobal(India) in partnership with Association of Computer Technologists in India (ACT India) and Center for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA).
The vision of the national Campaign:
1) Bring together youth from all over India who are interested in issues such as
. How young people can use ICT as a tool for national development.
. What are the issues related to youth and ICT in India?
. Try to understand the relevance and influence of ICT in the day-to-day life of Indian youth inorder to use ICT as a positive influence for youth development and employment generation.
. How can we boost rural youth participation in national development using ICT?
. Bridging the digital divide in India.
2) Brainstorm and put together an actionable youth vision and strategy to address and help solve these issues.
Following people will be speaking at the conference on behalf of their organisations.
Sonali Unkule and Ashwini Kumar Agarwal from WSIS YOUTH INDIA, Atul Ijatkar from n-Logue, Dr. Amol Goje from VIIT, Baramati, Anil Shaligram from Marathmoli and Anurata from CLR ( Center for Learning Resource)
This concluding conference of theIndia National YOuth Campaign is scheduled to be held The Ambassador Hotel, Model Colony,Shivajunagar, Pune on 6th December. Participants will have to pay Rs. 30/- to register themselves. For on the spot registerations the charges are Rs. 50/-.Over 100 young people from the city will be attending the conference |
