In 1997 student from over 20 countries came to take part in cultural events, discussions and of course in some parties. That was the First International Culture Week in Pécs (FICWiP).
There were other editions of the event in 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2002 and 2003.
The International Culture Week in Pécs held in 2002 had as motto "W(H)Omen - Human! Gender Topics in the 21st Century". Why did we choose this topic? We live and think with the expressions and prejudices of gender everyday, so it was a good occasion to discuss and debate around this topic: What is the role of women and men in the society of the 21st Century? What are our cultural differences between men and women? How do we behaviour with "gender minorities"? What are their rights nowadays? Is there any difference as women and men think and what are those? We thought that these questions and thoughts have main roles in our daily life, such as in our private life. |
