The second edition of the World Congress of Environmental Education will be held from September 15th until September 18th, 2004 in Rio de Janeiro. The event will gather both the national and international scientific community for the exchange of researches and experiences, and the debate of present matters on the subject.

The first World Congress took place on the city of Espinho, Portugal, in 2003. Approximately 350 people from all over the world were present at the event. For the second edition of the congress, we expect a much larger number of participants, with the presentation of highly-developed projects along with serious discussions concerning the perspective of global thinking and local action.

The "guide-axis" for the 2004 programming will mix both citizenship and humanism. There will be lectures, round tables workshops and workgroups, besides cultural activities, which will seek to bring to light the many different approaches of environmental education. The fact that the event takes place in the"Wonderful City" also favors the participant to make contact with a mutiple and diversified reality from a social-environmental point of view, inviting visitors to remain a few more days in town so that they can tour it.

This event aims at being a meeting point for researchers of this area who are interested in presenting and discussing original work related to Environmental Education that refer to:

Meanings and practices

Essential values and the development of community projects.

The issue of support material.

Crosscutting topics, their place in the curriculum and in daily life.

Training and formation for the different profiles of mediators

Academic research, multiple approaches.

DEADLINES

- Submissions of abstracts: until June 30, 2004 .
- Notification of acceptance: July 30, 2004
- Camera-ready version: August 16th, 2004

Registration prices for the II World Environmental Education Congress:

a) researchers or university professors from Latin American countries and African countries: 150,00 (reais)
b) other international researchers or university professors: 300,00 (reais)
c) Brazilian teachers (elementary and high-school): 60,00 (reais)
d) Brazilian students(all levels): 50,00 (reais)
e) Groups of 4 people from the same entity: 500,00 (reais)
f) Brazilian government entities: 500,00 (reais)
g) Member of CRBio: 100,00 (reais)
