Specific issues that the Open Forum will focus on:
>Launch of an Arabic version of TIG;
>Recruitement of as many volunteers amongst active TIG members in Egypt.
>Linguistic obstacles facing Egyptian members and Arabic speakers in general.
Rationale for holding this Open Forum:
We felt the urge to unite all those active, energetic and enthusiastic TIG Egypt members who are more than a 1000 member, we noticed how much they’re active and hard working online over the discussion boards, updates and articles and even Global gallery contributions. We thought it would be good idea to join them for an offline discussion and to achieve concrete steps for the development of this community.
Youth in Arabic-speaking communities are currently facing the lack of first-rate and comprehensive Arabic educational content online. The language barrier is still considered to be one of the major problems blocking the path of national development and international cooperation. As a result, Arabic-speaking youth are left marginalized from using the Internet as a tool for development in their communities. This raises the need to cut across countries’ boundaries as well as the need for linguistic and cultural diversity online.
Goals the organizer hopes to achieve by holding this Open Forum for youth in the community:
To promote the launch of an Arabic version of TIG, and recruit as much as volunteers from the active members of TIG in Egypt.
