ISWI 2005 "one world - one vision"
"WANTED - dreamers who think and thinkers who dream ... and act"
Long before our time people were dreaming of a peaceful world. But will this dream ever come true? What does peace mean? Is peace more than just the absence of war or does it mean more? Does the perfect war, without civil victims save us from the terrible pictures of the theatres of war? Are not soldiers also people suffering from war as well? But why do they take part in wars? Who forces people to shoot at each other? Are there no peaceful ways of solving problems concerning resources, territory and religion? Or are there examples of peaceful solutions that we do not know about, because they are not worth reporting about? How do we learn to deal with conflicts? Who can create justice in a globalized world and who can mediate in conflicts? Is there a "just war", when innocent people always become victims of war? In our modern society almost everyone is acquainted to terrible pictures of war due to the media, so why do not chess games decide wars?
Some of these questions people are faceing every day, some seldom. We invite young people from all over the world to search for answers and to ask new questions. If answers will be found we will know after this week. But one thing is certain: Friends will not shoot at each other.
This will be the sevent International Student Week held in Ilmenau (ISWI). Since 10 years we encourage people to gather and talk about recent issues of our world. Discussing under the main idea "one world one vision" of this years event several subtopics as following:
1. Economy
2. Religion
3. Future
4. Media
5. Science
6. People and States
7. our tradition Art Groups
Art of Photography
Art of Press Work
Art of Music
Art of Theatre
Art of Video
Art of Radio
Beside this a cultural program and some general lessons to participate as the option to give an own speak about a topic they are interested in.

There are NO paricipation fees, but you have to cover your travel expenses and private spending of course.
The application process will start this autumn. You will have to provide three essays and there will an internal validation and rating-process for each application. So get well prepared for the topics you apply ;o).
