Studies TO WHOM? The conference is for you, if you are
interested in - working with young people, - questions
of social inclusion or marginalisation, - interactive
and participatory drama. THE MISSION The conference
explores the multiple ways drama can be used to help
young people towards social inclusion. It experiments
with various cultural activities on the edge of formal
and informal education. Drama is not just art for arts
sake or a school subject. It is active reshaping of
the alternative futures and cultural identity by the
young people themselves. It can be a way to social and
cultural inclusion. Development of adapting the
methods can help us understand how this goal can be
achieved most effectively. TARGET GROUPS Students and
practitioners of - youth, social and socio-cultural
work, - education in primary and secondary schools, -
health and therapy work, - theatre and drama, -
administrators and sponsors. WORKSHOPS AND
PRESENTATIONS If you hate conferences where people
only talk, this event is for you! The conference is
practical, informal and interactive. Essential part of
it are the practical drama workshop demos in schools,
where you will be actively involved along with the
kids. Thus it illustrates lively the challenges and
dreams of creative cultural work with the young
people. The workshops are run by the young
practitioners, who are searching for new tracks in
their work. The conference shows the different ways
drama has been used in the countryside villages of
Portugal, modern city of Barcelona in Spain, young
people around Estonia, and towns and countryside of
South-Western Finland. THEMES You can participate in
the workshops and interactive presentations of such
themes as - youth and cultural identity in isolated
rural villages,
- prevention of drug abuse, - forum theatre and
interactive TV, - sexual education, - running away
from home, - being different, - dialogue between
parents and youngsters, - local mythology, - work with
young prisoners, - cultural integration of young
immigrants, - social inclusion of ethnic minority

Margo Teder (Estonia), Forum theatre group
Draamaräätälit, Vapaa Pudotus, SPR Youth shelter of
Turku, Jouni Piekkari and Titi Lillqvist (Finland) and
many others. METHODS Drama way project partners have
applied various methods for their local needs, such as
- process drama (drama-in-education) - forum theatre -
Live Action Role Play (LARP) - celebratory drama -
cite-specific events - visual presentations - writing
and photo workshops - Theatre-in-Education (TIE) -
clownery - circus WORKSHOP LANGUAGES English and
