Do you think there should be a "YOUTH DECLARATION" in this 21st century? We are inviting Youths, Young People, and Youth organisations (with or without a youth leader) who are below 35years old to join us at the “YOUTH MAKE IT REAL and Can Change the World!” Joburg Summit. This will give you the opportunity to meet with other youth/young people from around the world to discuss issues, share ideas, enhance your foundation for sustainable empowerment/skills, develop collaborations and make contacts that will continue beyond the SA Summit. The Summit will bring together 1000 youth workers/ young people from around 60 countries – all of whom are interested in helping create a better world, and many have started or are working with organisations that are led by young people which address issues of particular concern to young people. We encourage the participation of youth workers and young social entrepreneurs.
Summit Background/Objectives
Young people have the unique capacity to reach to reach across false boundaries of nationality, race and economic status to affirm our common humanity and work towards a shared vision. By uniting the creative energy and courage of young people with the knowledge and expertise of experienced, academia and professionals, African Youth for Transparency (AYFT), a non-profit, non governmental registered organization in South Africa, empowers youths and students to be informed activists.
Today there exist greater linkages between nations across continents than our planet has ever known- a truly global exchange of people, of ideas, of goods and services, yet we live in a world that faces an ever increasing divide between the rich and poor. As the face of communication, business, and international relations changes, so must our commitment to ending this disparity. Making globalization work for all- particularly the real poor, HIV/AIDs victims, the oppressed/marginalized, abused children and women,
Governance- Transparency and Accountability, leadership, access and availability of ICT, environmental pollution, Education, Gender, Human Rights, Trade, Peace and Conflict , Gender/feminism, Citizenship etc should represent the greatest challenge of our generation with review on the role of our local/national and international youth policies, The UN, NEPAD, IMF, World Bank etc.
The starting point for the Summit will be the sharing of strategies, ideas and experiences from presenters/key note speakers. From this exchange of experiences, the summit hopes to move towards concrete steps on sharing best practices, establishing shared values and principles, developing joint campaigns and actions. Please send in your abstract papers on these global issues of not more than 600 words.
