The efficiency of a group largely depends on how well efforts of its individual members are coordinated. But coordination does not just happen. Satisfactory communication is necessary if people are to achieve understanding and cooperation, if they are to cope with the problems that come with functional change and geographical decentralization. Language as tool for communication therefore becomes very critical and indeed crucial.
This student centered language camp project is targeted at second cycle students. The major object is to expose these students to the importance of a second language in the global age where linguistics skills and international experience are imperatives for employment and career. Competence in other foreign languages is highly important.
The programme will therefore bring individuals under one umbrella about two hundred (200) students to undergo two weeks of intensive language study. French is the language in question here. This is as a result of working to prepare these students to effectively operate in the ECOWAS sub-region highly dominated by French speaking countries.
The programme will have an international dimension as well where some hundred (100) students from neighbouring French countries like Togo and Benin will embark on a two-week intensive English study. This way West Africa will be moulding future leaders with a second language.
The programme will take a form of a day camp for local participants whiles international participants are housed under one roof. This event will start from 1st –15th august 2005
