The international youth conference on sustainable development 2005, will, among other things, showcase the work of the youths; celebrate and promote the contribution the youth are making and can make to a sustainable future; build relationships and networks ; inspire new action for creating a better world for the current and future generations; link the youth to existing world-changing projects; develop and share knowledge on important regional and world issues to inform action, lobbying, advocacy and policy and facilitate hands-on project work by the youth in their countries to leave a lasting local legacy of the event

This historic gathering will also focus on informing and educating the youth on critical issues, such as, HIV/AIDS/Health, poverty,millenium development goals, unemployment, violence, environmental degradation, development etc. and on empowering them to take action to resolve these issues. The Summit will provide a framework for the youth leadership training so that they will be better equipped to cope with the development challenges facing the region.
