DetailsAbout
The 1st International Youth Forum held in April 2004, Jos by Youngstars Foundation in collaboration with the World Youth Alliance USA. Over 70 Nigerian youths attended with resource persons from Boston - USA and Kenya. Interestingly, because of IYF 2004, six Nigerian youths were offered slots through Younstar Foundation to attend International Solidarity Forum (ISF) at the United Nations in November 2004, by World Youth Alliance – USA. Consequent upon our previous achievement we are organizing another International Youth Forum scheduled for Wednesday 22nd – Friday 24th June, 2005 in Jos city.

This year's IYF comes with the promise of 4 prolific young facilitators:

- 'Gbenga Sesan, 1st Nigerian Youth IT Ambassador and Program Manager of Lagos Diital Village;
- Pamela Braide, Coordinator YES Network, Nigeria;
- Adesuwa Bank Anthony, Human Development. UK
- Caroline Shisubili, Kenya, Africa Director World Youth Alliance USA

IYF 200 has two broad objectives:

a) To mobilize Nigerian youths to actively participate at the international level/ programs in 2005, alongside their fellow African counterparts eg,
· International Youth Day, Germany – August 2005.
· International Solidarity Forum, World Youth Alliance New York November 2005
. ICASA Nigeria - December 2005
This objective will among others:
* highlight how participation at international levels affects youth development at the local levels.
* examine the World Program of Action for Youth (WPAY) from the Year 2000 and Beyond, and the United Nations Youth Agenda in view of National Youth Agenda
* discuss factors that usually impede Nigerian youths participation at international meetings with a view of developing strategies and working together to overcome such factors in attending 2005 events., eg, ability to find info –networking, knowledge of specific interest portals / how to research on the internet, ability to package standard application and profile of oneself or initiative, how to effective contribute to such events, how to successfully fundraise to attend international events etc

* ensure that Nigerian youths who attend international meetings articulate common goals that represent the need and views of the Nigerian youths.
* articulate an effective /sustainable feedback system between international conference attendees and cross sections of Nigerian youths for follow up.

b) To review structures and platforms for youth representation -participation in Nigeria from the local to the national level, towards sustainable and accelerated youth development in Nigeria. Focus areas include:
· The National Youth Policy of Nigeria – 2001
· The National Youth Agenda – 2005
· The National Youth Council of Nigeria
· Youth Parliaments as platform for giving young people 10-24 years old a voice
· Ensuring better youth representation in Nigeria at all levels

HIGHLIGHT:
Liaison Youth Officers for the World Youth Alliance USA would be identified to establish a Nigerian Committee of World Youth Alliance, so that our youths can better enjoy access to The Alliance Consultative Status with the United Nations. This would also ensure that Nigerian youths benefit in the visit of the President of World Youth Alliance to Africa next year!!

Registration:
Still remains N3,000 per participant covering conference materials, tea break and lunch. Participants are expected to make their own accommodation arrangements. We have also arranged with Tekan Ministry in Jos to reserve their hostel for interested participants. It is N400 per bed per night. Accommodation is also available in other hotels ranging from N1500 daily for interested participants.
