Dear Friends,
I am pleased to inform you that the 1st National Conference for Animals, focusing on Animal Welfare Issues in Nigeria, is scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, December 1 – 4, 2005.
A good tradition has to be established to hold conferences to present a united and holistic animals welfare messages to the entire Nigerian citizenry and the world at large.
A dedicated Internet discussion group and e-mail address is now opened for this conference. See below
This conference is targeted at:
1. Individuals and Organizations in the Animal Welfare, Rights and Protection Movements
2. Lovers and Owners of Wild, Farm and Companion Animals
3. Students in Animal related fields and disciplines.
The conference will consists of plenary sessions, poster presentations, workshops and lectures. The following subjects will be for discussions:
1. Fundamentals of Animal Welfare and Advocacy
2. Humane Management and Responsible guardianship of Wild, Farm and/or Companion Animals.
3. The Rights of Animals: Identification and Legislation
4. Managing a Zoonosis: Economic and Human Health Implications.

Deadline for making preliminary registration is: July 30, 2005
Second Circular will be sent by August 1, 2005
Third Circular will be sent by September 1, 2005
And Final Circular will be sent by October 30, 2005 after which all and any registration will end.

I wish to invite you to send a good will message to the conference. This will be published in the conference brochure. Letters of appreciation and report on conference proceedings will be sent to you after the conference.
Deadline for submission of Goodwill Messages is: September 30, 2005
Invitation For Sponsorship
I wish to invite you to be a sponsor of this conference. It is intended to make this 1st conference an all sponsored one with conference venue paid for, accommodation paid for all participants, transport refund, and feeding pardiems paid.
This conference will provide a platform for you as:
1. an individual to affect positively peoples attitudes to animals
2. a business organization to advertise your product and service in the conference brochure and also display a prominent signage at the conference venue
3. a non-profit organization to build awareness for your mission, aims and programs by putting these in the conference brochure and distribution of your educational leaflets at the conference venue.
You are cordially urged to determine with how much you want to sponsor the conference as what we have will determine to what level the conference will be sponsored.
