Aim of the conference:
To establish strategic relationship between Nigerian science and technology experts in the diaspora and their counterparts at home for the accelerated technological advancement of Nigeria.

Objectives
To promote the principle of transfer of knowledge through expatriate nationals by:-
Creating awareness among Nigerian Scientists and technology experts abroad about Nigeria’s Science and Technology policy, programmes and projects and encourage their involvement in collaboration with those at home for the implementation of the policy, programmes and projects.
Encouraging the provision of advisory services, partnership opportunities and support with respect to Science and Technology development policy and implementation of such programmes in Nigeria.
Putting in place strategies for sustained cooperation between the Ministry and other Science and Technology Institutions in Nigeria and Nigerian Scientists and Technology experts in the diaspora.
Exploring how Nigerian Scientists and Technology experts in the diaspora and their counterparts at home can collaborate to expand interest in the study of Science and Technology in Nigeria and make Science and Technology the hub of our national development.
Encouraging the participation of Nigerian Scientists abroad in NEADS programme of the NUC and Nigerian Universities.
Encouraging cooperation between both parties in research and development in Nigeria.
Creating an avenue for the transfer of resources and investment in Science and Technology sector by Nigerians in the diaspora.
Establishing an Internet mentoring service through which Nigerian Science and Technology experts abroad can mentor Nigerian Science students in higher institutions in Nigeria.

About NNVS Conference
The issue of third world Diasporans and the contributions they can make to transforming their original homelands has of recent generated considerable global interest. Nigeria is among the countries that is determined to forge a constructive relationship with its huge number of diasporan nationals scattered around the world. It was for this reason that President Olusegun Obasanjo, in recognition of the huge and diverse resources of the Nigerian Diaspora, in 2000, initiated the Presidential Dialogue with the Nigerians in the Diaspora.
