DetailsAbout
"The Minna Memorial Debate is held on each anniversary of the death of the late Wilhelmina Adhiambo Oduol. Minna was a researcher, and a passionate believer in the rights of women and in particular, the advancement of the girl child. In her relatively short life she actively promoted the advancement of the girl child, particularly through education.

The Minna Memorial is a Trust established to carry out activities in the field of gender equality and the advancement of the rights of the girl child through education, in honour of the the late Minna. The activities of the Memorial include an anniversary Debate and the award of a bursary to gifted but needy girls in order to assit them in the payment of school fees.

This years debate will be on the topic "Women's Rights and Family Values: Are they Compatible?" Eminent intellectual and scholars have been invited to participate as panelists in this Debate. They are Prof Okoth Okombo and Prof Patricia Kameri Mbote, both of the University of Nairobi and Ms Mary Ariviza of USIU and Mr Charles Oyaya of the CKRC.

The Debate will be held on Thursday 10th November, 2005 at Education Theatre II, Main Campus, University of Nairobi, beginning 2 pm.
