Name of the Open Forum: Edmonton- Cross-Canada Mapping of Youth-Led Initiatives
Specific issues that the Open Forum will focus on:
Topic: Youth Participation in Canada
•Discussion: The workshop will present a forum for open discussion to address local/national assets and needs of youth/youth initiatives in Canada.
•Capacity Building: Participants will be introduced to the TakingITGlobal Canadian portal and familiarized with the various tools targeted at developing and promoting information sharing and collaboration possibilities for youth/youth initiatives in Canada.
Rationale for holding this Open Forum:
To create local, regional and national connections within Canadian youth-led initiatives to promote communication, networking and collaboration
Goals the organizer hopes to achieve by holding
this Open Forum for youth in the community:
The eventual goal of the project is to develop a portal that meets the needs of Canadian youth-led organizations, we intend to use the TakingITGlobal Canadian country site to empower these groups in the short term and develop a more complete network of organizations. The portal that will eventually result from this process is intended to be truly collaborative, bringing together the best possible tools to enhance the work of youth-led organizations. Researching best practices and working closely with the organizations we will be collaborating with in this initial research project will support the success of future projects.
