Leadership Initiative for Earth (LIFE)
In July 2002, 10-20 young people from around the world will come together on the Pacific coast of Canada for an extraordinary month-long journey of discovery about sustainable development, ecology and themselves. They will be trained during the expedition to script, shoot and edit their own television documentaries about global sustainability innovation as experienced in the coastal rainforests of British Columbia. Their visions for a sustainable planet will be broadcast on television and the internet, and profiled at the United Nations Earth Summit 2002 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Their extraordinary LIFEquest will become a journey for the planet.
LIFEquest - Clayoquot Expedition 2002 is supported in part by the Government of Canada and the United Nations Environment Programme. It is a pilot program for a round-the-world expedition profiling environmental stewardship and sustainable development innovation planned for 2003/04. The mission of LIFEquest is to enable young people to discover for themselves, and to report to the world, global sustainability innovation wherever it is taking root. We aim to inspire millions of people to join a vision of the future where humanity prospers without compromising the life-support systems of the planet.
