The International EARTH Village Festival, the official arts and culture festival of the United Nations’ World Urban Forum, takes over Vancouver’s Great Northern Way Campus for one week in June 2006. A rich and varied program of performances, exhibitions, workshops, dialogues, food, “Green Stream” activities, a Resource Fair and late night events will entertain visitors to the Village, as well as creating dialogue and engagement with environmental and social issues in a unique and lively setting. Artist/activists and youth from Canada and abroad will provide audiences with unique opportunities to see the world through the arts of people from Africa, Asia, Central and South America, from Europe, Australia and North America, all in an atmosphere of celebration and creative innovation.
Two years in planning, the EARTH Village will attract some 3000 visitors each day, including youth from across Canada and some of the 10,000 international delegates expected to attend the World Urban Forum. We invite you to join us and will keep you informed as program details are finalized!
Special Feature: Blogging Workshop
TakingITGlobal invites you join us for a workshop on June 22nd at 3PM during the Festival. "Blogs. Digital Technology. Creativity" will be a workshop on how blogging and technology can be creatively used to express ideas, opinions, raise awareness, engage others and positively impact major global challenges such as the HIV/AIDS pandemic and the Millennium Development Goals.
The workshop will explore best practices and will also give participants insight and tools to blog using images, words and podcasts. Participants are invited to bring along their laptops, digital cameras and MP3 recorders as the event promises to be interactive. You will also have the opportunity to tour and sign up to TakingITGlobal's blogging platform and preview our podcasting feature that is being launched to coincide with the World Urban Forum.
Following the workshop, participants will be invited to blog abut their experience at the Earth Festival and will able to receive "blogging support" from TIG staff everyday during the Festival, from 3PM, at the TIG booth. |
