DetailsLe projet
The Swahili Culture Night is hosted by the Department of Language and Linguistics at York University. This event offers an experience of East African culture, more specifically the Swahili influences in East Africa. We are offering a taste of a variety of Tanzanian food, a variety of Tanzanian music (stay tuned because Adam Solomon may be appearing to perform live!!) and a short film produced by Sarah Switzer, a Volunteer Project Officer for Africa Community Technical Service. The film is an 18 minute documentation of the process of the Tanzanian phase of the Kwekitui Primary School Library Project in November 2004.

We will also get a chance to hear from the professor of the newly offered Swahili language course at York University.

[Projet présenté]
Kwekitui Library Project
The library was constructed by volunteers from the village in November 2004. It is situated at a primary school in a village called Kwekitui, which is part of the Lushoto District. The funding for this project came from donors. A lot of sweat and prayers have made this project possible.
