March 29, 2006

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I‘m pleased to send out this announcement to all National Coordination Committees (NCCs) and the 13 Youth Policy Group chapters. We are 25 days away from the GYSD celebrations for 2006 in Cameroon.
Highlights of this year’s activities include:
* 02 village hall meetings, March 19 and 26 in Bamenda and Buea
* 01 training workshops for NCC members, and other YPG and ARHC staff - April 8 in Douala
* developing and disseminating materials (10000 fliers, 300 T-shirts), and information/display boards with GYSD information to place in 10 community schools, 05 churches of different denomination and 05 Administrative offices and companies.
The YPG Coordinator Ms Etaka Eyong Elsie and other YPG members will assist other NCCs and Groups and individuals to draw action plans for GYSD activities. Act as resource for NCC and other youth groups and community leaders. Cultivates new contacts and linkages to further Advocates' mission and expand project effectiveness. Helps to integrate adolescent sexual and reproductive health, family planning, and/or HIV/STI prevention. A strong interest in HIV/STI prevention with young women of reproductive age and boys in the rural areas in Cameroon. Assists with the preparation of fundraising proposals and foundation and project reports. Other tasks as assigned.
1. Through local effort resources have always been mobilized to realize these projects without external support/assistance, but the funds raised are largely insufficient to enable us realize fully our plan of actions.
2. This year is the most difficult one and up-till now we are unable to raise funds to support the workshop planned for NCC members come April 8, 2006 at Adele Reproductive Health Centre (ARHC) – Mamaband Bonaberi Douala.
However, we have been able to hold internet and telephone meetings with some NCC members as the National Lead Agency (NLA) in Cameroon ,and a final working seesion was held at ARHC Douala office on 21st March, 2006 with Noubissie Ngadeu Samuel Desire – Project and Operations Coordinator of Jeunesse Horizon Yaounde NCC.
Please, we would welcome all your plans of actions as individual NCCs so as to better plan for this training workshop on the 08 of April, 2006 in Douala. You might include plans on how funds will be raised locally to support the cost of training workshop, transport, feeding and accommodation of delegates. With a budget of 400.000 F we can support 30 delegates.
