The world habitat day celebration is her again and the need to complement the effort of the United Nations programme on human settlement (UNHABITAT) and other partners can not be over emphasize.
Last year the Global Grassroot youth forum through their country representative the Nigeria Grassroot youth forum organized the 2005 WHD celebration in Nigeria and the event was well attended by both members of the public and the communities we visited.
The heads of the communities took us round their villages to assess and their provided all the information needed by our organization. The founder of the organization Rt.Hon.Comrade Sunday Michael chorused Lagos state as the city to be accessed base on the 2005 world habitat day theme “the millennium development and the cities”
The following where the villages where visited:-
Tolu Ajegunle, Lagos Nigeria
Ijora Badia, Lagos and
Lagos Island
We interview and access their areas and we also have the opportunity to interview the oldest monarch in Africa.
The event has a very wide coverage as the largest TV network in Africa the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) covered the event and also provided us with one of her staff. Other media houses that acknowledged the event are African independent Television (AIT) the SUNNEWS, MITV, MBI TV, Channels Television and the Punch news pepper.
This year we have chosen Cross River state as the palace we intend to celebrate the habitat day. We intend to hold seminars, interviews, open air rally and international conference to mark the 2006 world habitat day.
