Snapshot 1 & 2 (part of the Open Studio 2006 project * ) is Screenings of Video Compilations from Istanbul (Curated by Basak Senova w/ NOMAD)
screened at the Contemporary Image Collective (CiC)

A screening of short video works created by artists working in Istanbul. Each work addresses the relation of digital culture to urban context.
The curator will introduce the series and be available for discussion after the screening.

Basak Senova is a curator, writer and designer based in Istanbul. She studied Literature and Graphic Design (MFA in Graphic Design and Ph.D. in Art, Design and Architecture at Bilkent University) and attended the 7th Curatorial Training Programme of Stichting De Appel, Amsterdam. She was the editor of art-ist 6 and was one of the founding members of NOMAD. She is also organizing ctrl_alt_del and Upgrade!Istanbul.
NOMAD is an Istanbul-based association that targets to produce and experiment new patterns in the digital art sphere by using various lenses of other disciplines. Since 2002, NOMAD has developed numerous local and international projects including festivals, exhibitions, performances, multimedia events, experimental film screenings, lectures, panels and publications.

An international residency programme in (Downtown) Cairo, Egypt - exploring creative approaches to sound.
The project is inspired by Cairo’s rich aural environment, one shaped by the city’s diverse narratives of sound, sound-making traditions and ongoing explorations of sound in contemporary music and the arts.
