Established in 2000, The National AGFI Youth Award Honors leaders in Nigerian and around the World who have made Youth Empowerment in their Community and National at large. The purpose of the Award is to shine a positive, interactive light on the awarded and to support their work in youth development and Empowerment.
ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARD
Award Candidates must be 40 years and above. Award candidates cannot advocate violence or belong to an organization that advocates violence. Award candidates must be working on an issue that directly relates to the United Nations Millennium Declaration Promising to “free Men, women and Children from the Dehumanizing Conditions of Extreme Poverty” (MOGs) NEEDS, SEEDS & LEEDS by 2015. The Award is given to a leader based on that leaders Achievement and Commitment. It is not given to groups of people, organizations, or as a memorial award to people who have died.
GUIDELINES FOR NOMINATION
Complete nominations include the following:
Completed Application form letter of nomination. There reference for the candidates, in addition to the nomination letter. Letter of recommendation should highlight why the leader is being recommended for the award and how long the nomination or has been award of the leader’s contributions. The candidates’ personal information on family background and History of youth Development and Empowerment work should be included.
Nomination must specify whether these Award candidate has received or i.e. currently nominators for other youth development and Empowerment Awards. The letters should answer the following questions: How long have you known the candidate and in what capacity? What are the personal achievements of the candidate? What motivated this person to begin youth Development and Empowerment work, and what continues to inspire them? What are the obstacles that the nominee faces in accomplishing his/her work? How has the nominee lead or engaged others in his/her work? How has the nominee must be 40 years of age or above, supporting materials such as: Photography, newspaper clippings, narratives or other item describing the candidates works.
