DetailsAbout
Name of the Open Forum: CULTURAL FUSION

Specific issues that the Open Forum will focus on:
This project will use the universal language of art to help bridge differences by learning to see value in them. This then becomes the basis for coalition building across communities, organizations, and business sectors to develop strategies to break cultural isolation, increase participation in the arts and the media, inspire creative responses to current political issues, promote the strengthening of intercultural competence and collaboration across borders as anchors for community renewal and economic development. Because this project represents the priorities and ideals that the ECF has come to stand for it stands out as an ideal partner for ensuring the maximum impact of this project. From this early preplanning phase, the support and encouragement offered by ECF has provided the momentum to keep our team and our project moving forward towards implementation. Cultural Fusion promises to be a distinguished gem in the ECF project portfolio.

Rationale for holding this Open Forum:
Cultural Fusion will help students apply the traditional artistic styles and oral traditions of their native country to graphic arts and contemporary storytelling to create works that preserve and expands culture on the global front. The project uses an original approach to expressive therapy-inspired programming as part of a community intervention strategy. The proposed program is a community mental health innovation in self help approaches. It is significantly more cost-effective than traditional approaches because it addresses a national condition on a community basis, employing sustainable strategies that rely on private partnerships rather than on government resources.
As an intervention, it also overlaps to operate as a preventive strategy that has a positive impact on justice systems, decreases crime, improves community mental health, and decreases poverty through self-help economic development programs.

Goals the organizer hopes to achieve by holding
this Open Forum for youth in the community:

• Produce an international cultural exchange program

• Create a professional training program supported by the private sector

• Promote self-help community mental health intervention

• Develop a hub for community renewal

• Promote learning English in an engaging context

• Develop a new model for community renewal

Language in which the Open Forum will be held: English
