Name of the Open Forum: Taking Action! Workshop
Specific issues that the Open Forum will focus on:
We want to identify the range of issues that Russian youth are concerned about and discuss what individuals and communities can do to address these issues.
1. Participants will be asked to think about the question:
As a young person in Russia, what issues are you most concerned about?
Then the list of themes identified by participants will be written on the blackboard.
2. Participants will be asked to answer the question:
What can you do to address these issues?
(e.g. 3 things you can do within the next 6 months; write timeline and resources required).
3. Presentation of individual action plans by participants.
4. Mini-presentation by facilitator: 5 steps to action
>inspiration+identification;
>research+planning;
>teambuilding+collaboration;
>action+implementation;
>reflection+evaluation.
Rationale for holding this Open Forum:
It is important to give a space to young people to discuss the issues that concern them most. According to many youth in Russia, there is a lack of opportunities for young people to articulate their concerns and to be heard.
Goals the organizer hopes to achieve by holding this Open Forum for youth in the community:
We hope that workshops participants will get a good undrerstanding as to how their ideas about social change can be translated into actions. They will be able to develop small action plans that would outline concrete actions and future steps.
