Was a great event and I there were lots of interesting discussions that went on. For me, it was a great opportunity to come and meet with people who have a variety of opinions/ perspectives on ICT4D!

This was the first conference I have attended ever, here are a few generalized thoughts:

- Still trying to figure out why a conference aimed directly at efforts in developing nations was hosted by one of the richest country in the world. It only, again and always, deepens the very well know concept that the North is where things happen and the South is where decisions are implemented.
- Being far, expensive and hard to get into for African (amongst others), most of the people that should have been there weren’t. And certainly, some people that were there were just well plugged-in at high levels and got sponsored while the real hearted youth that are fighting in the field are sitting at home.
- Two of CLCWA’s advisors, Titi and Henry, long-time proactive youth workers with 100 times more experience (although young), got their visas refused.
- Although it was great to amongst a TIG team, meeting young active people from all over, objectively, I am not sure it was worth the resources used (environmental, financial, etc)
- A 3 day conference like this, especially where it was, could probably finance 2 more years of CLCWA implementation in 5 countries. I am trying really hard to find what I came out of this with and it just does not come close to justifying the resources.

If I can make a recommendation, it came to my mind that for this type of international conference, it would make a lot more sense in many ways to somehow split it up regionally as a teleconference. Taking the GAID conference as an example, we could have had a meeting point on each continent where people working on youth and ICTs in the same reality can meet physically (because I think there are benefits to it) but then, do it simultaneously all over the world through online tools. We are all working using ICTs and so why not use our skills and knowledge to do exactly what ICTs main advantages are: bringing the world together while cutting down on expensive travels and damaging environmental impact. I can travel pretty far in Africa for a small percentage of the resources that were used to get me to attend the conference in Geneva. As it would be simultaneous, we could all have similar activities after which we could go online (video-conference) and share with the rest of the world. Also, there are so many people in such conferences as GAID that you usually don’t happen to meet the right people that truly could benefit you. If it was done in small groups (lets say 25), regionally, we could really all get to know each other and our initiatives. Partnerships and collaboration could be easier to develop. An international conference done regionally could allow more of the right people, remote or poor, to attend. So bottom line, it would waist less resources, have less of an environmental impact, result in more real and concrete collaborations and would, above all, allow the right people to attend, no matter their social/financial situation.

Yeah, its pretty straight forward and probably too critical as I usually am but hope you can pull out a few constructive notions and ideas from it.

It was very nice to meet people from the all world, and it was great meeting, there was team works and knowledge sharing and there was more than one desiccation room, that we negotiate in it about a lot of things Technology, Politics...etc, may i didn't have the enough time to show how we work in develop the ICT and the e-learning through JEI Project in Jordan, but it was nice to talk a little about it.
