The Glocal Youth Parliament (GYP) and Nibyiza Group are organizing a Meeting on Creativity and Innovation in Kigali on the 22nd of September 2007 in cooperation with TakingITGlobal.
The GYP is a worldwide network of urban youth partnering with local governments and organizations, international institutions, the private sector and each other to promote youth empowerment and improve the quality of urban life. The Glocal Youth Parliament (GYP) was established by the Glocal Forum and the World Bank Institute in 2002.
Nibyiza Group is a Rwandan youth led organization created in May 2004, its major activity being the management of the website www.nibyiza.co.rw which contains information related on different youth development topics and to highlight the local news on the internet by focusing on the local youth initiatives. It also promotes the use of ICTs in youth initiatives by providing adequate information, capacity and fostering the culture of creativity and Innovation.
TakingITGlobal is an international organization, led by youth, empowered by technology. TIG brings together young people in more than 200 countries within international networks to collaborate on projects addressing global problems and creating positive change.
The aim of this Meeting is to bring together local youth leaders from the above organizations, as well as others, in order to encourage them and local entrepreneurs to recognize creativity and innovation as a major factor for more competitiveness. The constant need to seek for original, adapted and innovative products and services is one of the keys to any organizations success.
The main outputs of this meeting will be the development of a plan leading to the set up of a “Kigali Urban youth think tank on Creativity and Innovation” an ambitious initiative of Glocal Youth Parliament and its local partner NIBYIZA Group.
The meeting will be attended by local youth leaders, business leaders, local government leaders, TiG community in Kigali, youth entrepreneurs, and experts in the competitiveness and innovation field. Discussions will be conducted among participants regarding membership of the Think Tank; potential resolutions to be introduced as input to policy makers and decision-making institutions, with the aim of engaging them in this new movement for creativity and youth employment.
