Представительство Oxfam GB в России и международная молодежная организация TakingITGlobal приглашают вас принять участие молодежном форуме «Вступление России в ВТО: перспективы и сложности».

Форум проводится при поддержке Всемирного банка и международной организации Peace Child International в рамках кампании «Глобальный призыв к действию по борьбе с бедностью» и будет приурочен к третьему Дню белой ленты в 2005 году – 10 декабря. В этот день, накануне министерского саммита ВТО в Гонг Конге, представители более чем 70 стран выразят свой призыв к мировым лидерам содействовать снижению уровня бедности, а в особенности - установить честные правила торговли, которые будут учитывать интересы развивающихся стран. Россия собирается вступить во Всемирную торговую организацию в 2006 году, и поэтому необходимо, чтобы граждане страны, особенно молодежь, знали о тех перспективах и сложностях, которые влечет за собой этот шаг.

Мы приглашаем молодых людей представить свое видение результатов вступления России в ВТО. В рамках форума будет также организован видеомост между Россией и Великобританией, в ходе которого участники форума из двух стран смогут обменяться своими мнениями по проблеме установления честных правил международной торговли.

Перед участниками форума выступит эксперт Министерства РФ по экономическому развитию и торговле, который представит официальную позицию России по вопросу вступления в ВТО, а также представители кампании Make Poverty History (Великобритания), Oxfam GB и TakingITGlobal-Россия, которые расскажут о своем опыте работы в рамках всемирного движения по борьбе с бедностью.

Youth forum
RUSSIA'S ACCESSION TO WTO:
prospects and challenges

OXFAM GB, TAKINGITGLOBAL-Russia and PEACE CHILD INTERNATIONAL would like to invite British youth to contribute to the discussion that will be held between Russian young people and representatives of Russian government and international organizations and share ideas on possible impacts and impediments that Russia may face upon its accession to WTO in 2006.

With support from the World Bank, the forum is organized within the framework of the worldwide campaign "Global Call to Action Against Poverty" to mark the 3-rd white band day on December 10, 2005. On that day, on the eve of WTO ministerial summit in Hong Kong, GCAP coalitions in almost 70 countries are acting together to put pressure on world leaders to do more to eliminate poverty and in particular to come up with fair trade regulations that take into account interests of the developing nations. As Russia prepares itself to become a member of WTO, it is essential that Russian people, and especially youth, learn about the implications of this process. What challenges and prospects does the membership offer?

The forum also seeks to stimulate a discussion with young people from the UK about their perception of WTO and its role, how they view trade regulations and share their thoughts and experiences with Russian audience.

The program involves a presentation by an expert from the Department of WTO entry negotiations, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Russian Federation, and an exchange of experiences and ideas with colleagues and youth in the UK.

A representative of ‘Make Poverty History’ campaign will deliver a speech about demands that the coalition is putting forward to decision-makers at WTO meeting in Hong Kong.
