DetailsAbout
This year the Global Forum on Migration and Development will be convened at Manila in the Philippines. The Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) is a new initiative of the international community to address the migration and development interconnections in practical and action-oriented ways. It marks the culmination of more than a decade of international discussion on the growing importance of these linkages, and the progressive acknowledgement of the need to address the policy implications and responses in a multilateral framework.

As a part of preparatory work of Young People We Care (YPWC) for the upcoming 2nd Global Forum on Migration and Development, YPWC, with the support of Global Youth Action Network, TakingItGlobal and Migrant Rights International are creating a forum for young people to be involved in the Global Forum on Migration and Development through various youth consultations.

The official civil society days programmed into the GFMD will most likely be restrictive with limited spaces for youth. YPWC with its strategic partners including Global Youth Action Network (GYAN), TakingITGlobal and Migrant Rights International together with other organizations is working to organize a Youth Consultation for the GMFD, as well as preparatory activities prior to this. Contact: Young People We Care (YPWC) at youthmigration@ypwc.org to know how you can be involved.
