DetailsAbout
World Summit on the Information Society, organized by the United Nations and the International Telecommunications Union will take place in two phases: in Geneva, in December of 2003, and in Tunis two years later.

The Information Society is at the heart of the political, social, cultural and economic questions confronting us in the beginning of the 21st century. The focus of the Information Society Summit is not technology but the human being - we must keep in mind that it is not enough to be connected to resolve the fundamental problems that exist in the world.

What values do we embrace to ensure that the Information Society becomes a vehicle for democracy, justice, equality, the respect for individuals and peoples, their personal and social development? What is the role of communication in shaping the future of the society we want to build?

Information travels at an increasingly faster rate. How does it affect people of different cultures and stages of development? How do we respect each other
