Every three years, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) organizes a Telecom World Event that showcases the latest technologies and promotes in-depth discussions on key issues facing the industry through a comprehensive, wide-ranging forum programme. Running alongside the main exhibition, a Youth Forum is held that brings together youth from around the world to participate in exciting talks, debates and interactive panel discussions relating to facts and experiences gathered by the ITU and the telecommunication industries about Information and Communication Technology.
The youth attending these events have found them to be life-changing experiences, helping them to understand the nature and potential of the global communications industry and encouraging many to embark upon careers as engineers, policy-makers and business people in the industry. Mentoring services will be provided to motivate participants to ensure their healthy and safe participation in the programme.
This year's event, ITU Telecom World 2006, is being held December 4-8, 2006, in Hong Kong, China. |
